“Overnight stay”
Convenient location, good price, clean, kitchenettes, next to highway but one that's not noisy at night. Mom and pop operation, pleasant folks. Gave a seniors discount. Had to ask for it, but maybe because we look so young....  (Reviewed by Don H, from

“Cheap hotel, very basic but adequate for short stay”
This is a very basic, cheap motel. The building is old but the rooms have been renovated. Thankfully it looks better on the inside than the outside. The beds are decent. The bathrooms are very bright and hot water is plentiful. (Reviewed by Denise L, from

“Cheap and Cheerful”
A very basic and down to earth stay. The room was small but clean, and exactly what we needed for one night in the city. No frills, but the price reflects it. The room came with a small kitchenette with basic utensils. Staff was friendly. Payment was required before I saw the room, which was the only strange thing. The hotel is right beside a busy road, and although there had been attempts to dampen the sound, it was still quite noisy in the room. However, the road is less busy at night, and so the noise is much less. There is also a small patio looking out on a lovely lawn with a forest in the background - very nice on a spring evening in Nanaimo. “Great value ”
Bog standard US motel but great value - big room, good wifi, digital TV, next to main road from ferry/out of town - 3 mins drive from centre. V friendly and helpful lady at front desk. All for less than CDN 100. Why do people go to posher places for overnight stays? (Reviewed by Charlie Beckett, from

Excellent hosts, rooms were economical but kept cleaned daily. Security was OK but given the neighborhood, it was sufficient! Going back again soon!   (Reviewed by Anonymous on August 13, 2015 posted on Hotels.com)
"It was a pleasant stay."
The room was very clean, the sheets smelled clean and fresh as well as the towels. There was coffee and tea in the room for the morning. It was a pleasant stay.  (Reviewed by Hayley on August 13, 2015 posted on Hotels.com)

Clean bathroom; simple but good value; excellent host who explained features in the room (thermostat, wi-fi password, etc). Quite close to marinas and the Departure Bay Ferry terminal. Smallish room, but that was to be expected for the price.  (Reviewed by Mature couple from Canada, reviewed on Feb. 27, 2014 on Booking.com

“Quiet, good motel” Very reasonably priced room, which was clean and had everything you need. Our room was on the back away from the traffic, so we weren't disturbed by it. The lady on reception was very helpful, giving us information we needed to know to operate the TV and heating. The only problem was the thermostat was right above the baseboard heater.

“great place to stay”  Nice new beds recent renos.. quiet .. very friendly staff .. enjoyed the stay and close to anything you need .. easy ch3k in. .. just hard to get into from opposite of hwy have to drive block down and turn around but that just small inconvenience for such a nice place for low cost (Reviewed by Chris F, Nanaimo, B.C., Canada, posted at TripAdvisor on Sep. 5, 2013)

“Quiet Clean Convenient”  Stayed for one night after a long day-hike. Room is simple but clean and the bed was comfortable. Air-con worked fine. Too bad we didn't arrive an hour or two sooner as we would have been able to sit out back and enjoy the semi-private deck and pleasant garden area. Close to a busy road but it didn't disturb my...  (Reviewed by andrewmark333, Victoria, B.C., Canada, posted at TripAdvisor on Aug. 13, 2013)

The woman at the desk was very helpful. Showed us how to walk to a lovely restaurant right on the water. Another guest from hotel joined us for dinner. We took the ferry to Victoria the next morning and it was just a short drive from the hotel. Worked well for us. Everything was fine. Comfortable bed, clean towels, everything worked. The closed in corridor giving access to the rooms eliminates the noise from the adjacent street. I've been aware of this place since 1971 and I'll stay there every time I need to stay over in Nanaimo. This was my fourth time at this motel. This was a very nice motel. Much nicer than I expected. It had a fully furnished kitchen and even a deck to enjoy our meal. I would rate this much higher. (Reviewed by Pam, Mature couple, Edmonds, U.S.A. posted at Booking.com on 13 August 2012 )

Staff helpful and diligent Very good price Close to a main road (it’s a motel), but room was still pretty quiet) Very pleasant walk to the city centre along the shore Good option for a stop in Nanaimo (Reviewed by Olivier, Young couple, Paris, France, posted at Booking.com on 11 August 2012 )
Friendly, ok room, comfortable beds, convenient location for the ferry and also not too far to the city centre (5 mins driving, but could also be walked)  -- (Reviewed by Yorick, Young couple, Amsterdam, Netherlands, posted at Booking.com on 28 July 2012)

It was easy to find, convenient. Yen was very friendly considering that we woke her up at 1:00a.M. to get to our room, which she held for us because of our late ferry!  (Reviewed by Sheila, Group of friends, Kamloops, B.C., Canada,  posted at Booking.com on 22 July 2012)
